The Four-Layer Operating Model

Deep dive into each capability layer, from baseline ops to governance.

Layered by Design

Most managed services are binary: you're either fully managed or you're not. CloudPresto's model is layered. Each layer builds on the previous one, and you can start at any depth and expand as your environment matures.

This isn't a pricing trick. It's an architectural reality: you can't optimize performance until you have a stable operational baseline, and you can't do meaningful recovery planning until you understand your capacity patterns.

01

Layer 01: Core Managed Operations

The foundation everything else builds on. This is where we take operational ownership of your infrastructure.

Provisioning & Hardening

Infrastructure deployed to security baselines with network least-privilege, encrypted storage, and network segmentation from day one.

24/7 Monitoring

Full-stack observability with defined escalation paths. Every alert has an owner and a defined escalation path.

Incident Triage

Structured response workflows with severity levels, communication cadence, and blameless post-mortems.

Patch Management

Governed lifecycle with impact analysis, staged rollouts, and automatic rollback gates.

02

Layer 02: Performance & Capacity Engineering

Once the baseline is stable, we optimize. This layer is about ensuring your infrastructure performs well and costs what it should.

Trend Analysis

Historical pattern recognition to predict capacity needs before they become performance problems.

Right-Sizing

Continuous analysis of resource utilization. We identify over-provisioned and under-provisioned resources and recommend changes.

Cost Optimization

Reservation and commitment planning, burst capacity strategies, and waste elimination, aligned to actual usage patterns, not vendor calculators.

SLO-Driven Baselines

Performance targets tied to business outcomes. We measure latency, throughput, and availability against your SLOs, not arbitrary thresholds.

03

Layer 03: Continuity & Recovery Readiness

Your backup doesn't matter if you've never tested a restore. This layer ensures your recovery capabilities actually work when you need them.

Cross-Region Replication

Architecture designed for geographic redundancy. Data and services replicated with defined RPO targets and automated failover.

Quarterly Recovery Drills

Scheduled, documented recovery exercises. We test failover, validate backup integrity, and measure actual RTO against targets.

RTO/RPO Validation

Continuous validation that your recovery objectives are achievable, not just documented. If drift occurs, we flag it immediately.

Runbook Automation

Recovery procedures codified and tested. When a failover triggers, it follows a validated, repeatable process, not a wiki page someone wrote two years ago.

04

Layer 04: Governance & Escalation Model

The strategic layer. This is where operational decisions connect to business outcomes and stakeholder visibility.

Change Advisory Board

Regular cadence for reviewing and approving infrastructure changes. Risk-scored, impact-assessed, and documented for compliance.

Executive Incident Command

Clear escalation hierarchy from on-call engineer to executive stakeholders. Everyone knows their role during a major incident.

Compliance-Ready Audit Trails

Every change, access event, and operational decision is logged with attribution and timestamps. Ready for SOC 2, HIPAA, or whatever your auditors need.

Business Reviews

Weekly ops summaries, monthly service reviews, and quarterly business reviews. Aligned to impact metrics, not just uptime percentages.
